AMON AMARTH: New Video Interview Posted Online
May 19, 2010Metal Injection correspondent Rob conducted an interview with vocalist Johan Hegg of Swedish metallers AMON AMARTH at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, which took place April 23-24 at the Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. Johan talks about some of the drinking the band has been doing on its recent U.S. tour; their epic music videos; plans to head back into the studio; his lyrical inspiration; and how Vikings would react if they heard the band. Watch the chat below.
AMON AMARTH bassist Ted Lundström was forced to miss the first three shows of the band's North American headlining tour — including the Portland concert. Filling in for him was Steve Drennan of ENGEL.
AMON AMARTH played its first-ever show in Beijing, China on December 1, 2009 at at Mao Live House. Hegg told the China Daily newspaper that he knew little about the Chinese metal scene until he arrived. "Virtually nothing," he said. "I've heard of bands coming here, but little else."
"To be honest, just before the show I thought this is not going to be good," he said. "It seemed like there were so few people out there, but then when we got on stage I thought it was really good. I had a good time. We all did."
"Versus The World", the fourth album in the reissue cycle from AMON AMARTH, was recently made available.
All four reissues contain a remastered version of the full album plus a bonus CD with the whole album played live (recorded December 2008 in Bochum, Germany).
